The Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) has sanctioned a pilot project deploying iLamp Israel’s autonomous solar lighting system, marking its maiden operational setup with the utility. This initiative will test the lighting system’s performance, reliability, and adaptability to the coastal environment of the IEC site. The findings from this pilot will guide the decision on whether to expand the use of this innovative technology.
The iLamp system is a multifunctional solution integrated into a single lighting pole, featuring LED lights, a 360-degree solar array, and battery storage. This design enables it to generate and store electricity independently, eliminating the need for a traditional grid connection. Additionally, the platform offers edge-computing capabilities, which allow local processing of data generated by equipment at the pole, rather than relying solely on a centralized system.
During the pilot, the system’s performance will be scrutinized according to technical and operational criteria set for the project. The IEC will review these results before making any decisions on further deployment. Anna Finkelstein from iLamp Israel highlighted that the pilot would provide vital performance data in a challenging environment, allowing for a thorough assessment of the technology under real-world conditions.
Albert Taubi, Director of iLamp Israel, emphasized that IEC’s approval for this pilot is a significant step toward integrating autonomous solar infrastructure with large-scale operators. The immediate priority is to complete the installation and assess its performance thoroughly. However, the pilot is not a blanket approval for broader deployment; any future expansion will depend on a separate evaluation by the IEC based on the pilot’s outcomes.
iLamp Israel Ltd. holds the exclusive rights to the iLamp platform within Israel, a technology developed by the UK-based Conflow Power Group Ltd. For additional information, iLamp Israel can be reached through their website, or by contacting Anna Finkelstein directly via phone or email.
