The Iranian government has firmly denied any participation in the ongoing conflict in Yemen, asserting that the Houthi forces operate autonomously. According to Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran does not meddle in Yemeni affairs and has dismissed allegations linking it to recent events involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen, emphasizing that the roots of the conflict are internal to Yemen.
Baghaei further announced the postponement of a scheduled meeting in Oman, which was to include Iran and Gulf countries, at the request of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was intended to discuss regional security and cooperation. Despite the delay, the spokesman revealed that an understanding between Iran and Oman concerning maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz has been finalized, with the two nations set to determine the next steps forward.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, conveyed that the decision to defer the regional gathering was aimed at supporting a broader consensus. He reiterated Oman’s dedication to fostering dialogue, maintaining regional stability, and ensuring long-term cooperation among the involved parties.
The postponed talks were seen as a significant platform for Iran and Oman to present their maritime agreement, potentially easing tensions and fostering collaboration in the sensitive Strait of Hormuz area. Despite the rescheduling, both countries remain committed to implementing their mutual understanding and enhancing regional diplomatic efforts.
