In a remarkable display of bravery, four passengers aboard a flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel are being considered for the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism after their quick actions helped prevent a potential disaster. Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced his intention to recommend Yaniv Hayoun, Dr. Shota Musayev, Zvika Manes, and Asaf Rajuan for the prestigious award, acknowledging their courage in a critical situation.
The incident unfolded when one pilot attacked the other during the flight, injuring him in the cockpit. The four passengers swiftly intervened, with Hayoun, Manes, and Rajuan working together to restrain the attacker. Hayoun also assisted with the aircraft’s controls, ensuring the safety of the passengers and crew. Meanwhile, Dr. Musayev provided essential medical care to the injured pilot until the plane could make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
President Herzog praised the passengers for their decisive actions, which he said were instrumental in safeguarding the lives of everyone on board. He also expressed gratitude to the flight’s Indian captain, Smit Machchhar, for his role in managing the situation.
The President plans to present the actions of these brave individuals to the advisory committee responsible for selecting recipients of the Presidential Award for Civilian Heroism. This recognition aims to honor those who have demonstrated exceptional heroism and selflessness in times of crisis.
