Kazakhstan and Germany are set to bolster their economic relationship following discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin. The talks on September 29 focused on enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.
President Tokayev underscored Germany’s role as a key strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe and highlighted the progress achieved in their relationship over the past thirty years. As part of the visit, he proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform to support joint ventures and facilitate mutual investments.
During his visit, Tokayev engaged with German business leaders to explore potential collaborations in the fields of transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Discussions included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
The two nations are also examining opportunities for German companies to participate in Kazakhstan’s industrial and infrastructure projects, providing them with greater access to the broader Central Asian market. This initiative aims to deepen economic cooperation and leverage each country’s strengths for mutual benefit.
