Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have pledged to enhance their bilateral relationship by expanding cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, transportation, and regional connectivity. This commitment was made public after the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group in Ankara, which was co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations. The discussions underscored their mutual interest in supporting diplomatic resolutions to international conflicts.
During the meeting, officials from both countries reviewed the progress made in their bilateral relations and expressed a desire to deepen their cooperation in sectors like education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. They also made plans for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, signaling a continued commitment to nurturing their partnership.
Economic collaboration was a focal point, with both governments agreeing to back new investment projects and implement measures to foster a business-friendly environment. Additionally, they discussed enhancing travel, employment, and educational opportunities to strengthen the connections between their people. A significant aspect of their dialogue was regional connectivity, where Kyrgyzstan emphasized the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor. The country aims to connect the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, thereby improving access to markets in Europe and the Middle East through Türkiye.
The ministers also addressed regional and global security issues, reiterating their dedication to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan acknowledged Türkiye’s contributions to regional mediation efforts and expressed gratitude for Ankara’s support in securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.
Looking ahead, Kyrgyzstan plans to advocate for dialogue among nations and champion the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states on the global stage. This commitment underlines the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan as they continue to foster closer ties and address shared challenges.
