Türkiye has strongly criticized the recent Israeli airstrikes carried out in southern Syria, labeling them as violations of Syria’s sovereignty and a threat to the stability of the region. The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its disapproval, emphasizing that the attacks on Quneitra and Daraa contravene Syria’s territorial integrity, breach international law, and undermine the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.
In its statement, Türkiye warned that such military actions could exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation in Syria, endangering civilian lives and derailing efforts to restore peace and stability. The ministry urged the international community to take a stand and work collectively to prevent any further escalation that could deepen the conflict in the region.
Burhanettin Duran, Communications Director for Türkiye, also voiced concerns about the implications of these strikes, highlighting that they pose a serious threat to Syria’s security and impede efforts aimed at achieving a long-term peace solution. Duran’s remarks underline the potential regional risks associated with continued military aggression.
Türkiye reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, viewing these elements as crucial to ensuring regional security. The Turkish government called for concerted international efforts to maintain peace and stability, advocating for a diplomatic resolution to ongoing tensions.
